Der junge Michael Jackson (Juliano Krue Valdi) wird als achtes von zehn Kindern unter der strengen Führung seines Vaters Joe (Colman Domingo) früh für eine Musikkarriere gedrillt wird. Mit der Familienband Jackson Five feiert er erste Erfolge, im Alter von 13 Jahren startet er bereits die Solokarriere. Auch im Erwachsenenalter (Jaafar Jackson) ist sein Leben von der Musik dominiert.
